My Memories of Di by Mary Sales
Created by Mary 5 years ago
Well, I first met Di in November 1983 at Preston Cross Squash Club at one their Club Nights, where if my memory serves me correctly, quite a lot of the members were dressed in “Black Bin Liners”! I remember enjoying a G&T and dare I say even a cigarette with her that evening!
Once I moved into the village in 1985, I was made very welcome and became “one of the crowd”.
Our Saturday lunchtimes at The Oak, where sometimes arrangements would be made for a BBQ or scruffy supper later that day.
Di being one of the instigators for our “Formal N.Y.E. Dinners” This being a very special evening seeing the New Year in with Our Friends!
Our Pool Evenings at Ann Andrews, and on the odd occasion Di would say – I am going to give the balls a “Blatter”!
Our fun “Dressing up” evenings where the Host and Hostess would decide which country the theme would be.
These are just a few of the memories I have had of Di over the years, and our last “girls’ day” out together at Hampton Court Flower Show, where we came home laden with plants, having had to buy a trolley there to carry them home! It was certainly a fun day together.
She was a great friend and I shall truly miss her.
